Job Overview
Zy Media Group is seeking a Senior Communications and PR Strategy Advisor to lead strategic communications initiatives for our clients. This role requires a strong media and public relations professional with exceptional storytelling skills, political and advocacy communications experience, and the ability to craft and execute high-impact PR campaigns. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment, manages multiple priorities with ease, and brings a creative, solutions-oriented approach to elevating client narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Client Strategy & Account Leadership
Serve as critical PR strategist on client accounts, assisting with managing projects and guiding team execution.
Develop and implement proactive publicity strategies, news angles, and media campaigns.
Assist with leading client meetings and provide actionable recommendations.
Support junior staff in campaign execution and media outreach.
Media Relations & Outreach
Cultivate and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, producers, and media outlets across print, digital, radio, and TV.
Identify and pitch relevant stories to targeted media contacts.
Monitor media opportunities, including HARO, and flag potential client coverage.
Oversee media list creation, distribution, and reporting.
Content Development & Messaging
Draft and oversee client communications including press releases, media advisories, op-eds, talking points, briefing memos, and pitch materials.
Ensure all messaging reflects client tone, values, and strategic objectives.
Advise clients on message framing, media interviews, and public statements.
Strategic Campaign & Event Support
Coordinate client interviews, press briefings, and media events.
Lead the development and implementation of PR campaigns and strategic initiatives.
Track media coverage and develop comprehensive client reports on campaign impact.
Operational & Organizational Leadership
Maintain PR calendars, track project progress, and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.
Represent Zy Media Group at events, press conferences, and client meetings as needed.
Support broader firm initiatives with thought leadership, strategic input, and operational expertise.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
7+ years of professional experience in media, public relations, or communications, with demonstrated experience in advocacy, public sector, or nonprofit campaigns.
Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and projects simultaneously.
Expertise in media pitching, relationship-building, and strategic storytelling.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and media monitoring platforms; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
