The National Reentry Workforce Collaborative (NRWC) supports a national network of providers dedicated to promoting economic mobility for justice-impacted job seekers. We serve the people who serve the people – empowering reentry workforce practitioners, advancing the field, and driving a national movement toward opportunities for justice-impacted job seekers.

Position Summary

NRWC is seeking a Development & Communications Manager to lead core communications and development functions that expand visibility, deepen network engagement, and support fundraising efforts.

This is a part-time remote staff position (approximately 10–25 hours per week) that will work closely with the President & CEO and collaborate with NRWC’s team to build strong messaging, manage high-quality communications, and grow NRWC’s grant and funder pipeline. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and excellent writer who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Development

  • Develop an annual grant writing cycle and funder engagement strategy aligned with NRWC’s mission and operating calendar.

  • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities, prioritizing unrestricted and capacity-building sources.

  • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials.

  • Create and maintain a funder database, grant pipeline, and submission/reporting calendar.

  • Support the President & CEO in prospecting and developing funder relationships.

  • Support the preparation of funder reports, updates, and stewardship communications.

  • Develop boilerplate language, case statements, and messaging frameworks that align with NRWC’s theory of change.

  • Explore feasibility of non-traditional forms of funding, like donor advisory funds and other sources or forms of funding.

  • Identify sponsorship, partnership, or philanthropic opportunities that strengthen NRWC’s sustainability.

  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Marketing & Communications

  • Refine NRWC’s messaging, value proposition, and theory of change in collaboration with leadership.

  • Develop and execute a content and communications strategy aligned with NRWC’s annual operating cycle.

  • Produce or coordinate weekly newsletters, announcements, blog posts, and social media content to engage NRWC’s national network.

  • Collaborate with graphic designing consultant to design and distribute marketing materials for NRWC’s certification, training, and other programs.

  • Ensure consistent branding, storytelling, and visual identity across all platforms and publications.

  • Work in collaboration with the Operations Manager to track and analyze engagement metrics (email, website, social media) to assess growth and impact.

  • Support development of case studies, impact stories, success profiles, and field resources that elevate NRWC’s programs and partners.

  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit communications, development, grant writing, or similar roles.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

  • Strong project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Experience producing digital content (email newsletters, social media, marketing collateral).

  • Ability to translate program outcomes and data into compelling narratives.

  • Commitment to NRWC’s mission and to advancing equitable employment for justice-impacted job seekers.

  • Knowledge of reentry or workforce development fields is preferred but not required.

  • Experience with CRM, email marketing platforms, social media scheduling, or grant tracking tools is a plus.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small, fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Formal education or training in marketing, communications and/or development is preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Part-time staff position (10–25 hours/week).

  • Salary range determined by experience and NRWC’s compensation structure.

  • Flexible scheduling with some core hours for team collaboration.

  • Periodic travel out of state for meetings, events, training, etc.

  • Occasionally work on nights and weekends.

  • Opportunity for expanded hours and role growth as NRWC expands.
