Benefits Specialist (Contract)
Summary/Job Purpose
As a Senior Benefits Specialist, you will play a key role in the day-to-day administration and continuous improvement of our employee benefits programs. Reporting to the Total Rewards leadership, you will support the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and competitive benefits that help attract and retain top talent.
You’ll work closely with HR team members, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth employee experience and accurate benefits operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and support a wide range of employee benefits programs, including health and dental, vision, voluntary benefits, COBRA, retirement plans, time off, leave of absence, wellness, and recognition programs.
Maintain and troubleshoot benefit processes in Workday, including enrollments, life events, and terminations.
Support annual Open Enrollment and benefits communications, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of information to employees.
Collaborate with internal HR teams (HRIS, Payroll, HRBPs) and external vendors to ensure smooth operations and positive employee experiences.
Assist in reviewing and maintaining benefits content and resources, including guides, portals, and FAQs.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local benefit regulations, including HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, and ACA.
Analyze benefits data to identify trends, track utilization, and support vendor renewals and plan updates.
Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefit programs, leave options, and policy questions.
Participate in benefits-related projects such as system enhancements, M&A transitions, or new benefit rollouts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
3+ years of experience in employee benefits administration.
Strong working knowledge of benefits compliance and best practices.
Experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms highly preferred.
CEBS or similar certification is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Comfortable working with sensitive employee data and maintaining confidentiality.
