Benefits Specialist (Contract)

Summary/Job Purpose

As a Senior Benefits Specialist, you will play a key role in the day-to-day administration and continuous improvement of our employee benefits programs. Reporting to the Total Rewards leadership, you will support the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and competitive benefits that help attract and retain top talent.

You’ll work closely with HR team members, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth employee experience and accurate benefits operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support a wide range of employee benefits programs, including health and dental, vision, voluntary benefits, COBRA, retirement plans, time off, leave of absence, wellness, and recognition programs.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot benefit processes in Workday, including enrollments, life events, and terminations.

  • Support annual Open Enrollment and benefits communications, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of information to employees.

  • Collaborate with internal HR teams (HRIS, Payroll, HRBPs) and external vendors to ensure smooth operations and positive employee experiences.

  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining benefits content and resources, including guides, portals, and FAQs.

  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local benefit regulations, including HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, and ACA.

  • Analyze benefits data to identify trends, track utilization, and support vendor renewals and plan updates.

  • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefit programs, leave options, and policy questions.

  • Participate in benefits-related projects such as system enhancements, M&A transitions, or new benefit rollouts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in employee benefits administration.

  • Strong working knowledge of benefits compliance and best practices.

  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms highly preferred.

  • CEBS or similar certification is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Comfortable working with sensitive employee data and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
