Senior Manager, Safeguarding (Part-Time)

The National WIC Association (NWA), the nonprofit education arm and advocacy voice of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), has an immediate opening for a CIP-WIC Project Assistant (Part-time, Temporary).

The Association is a high-impact non-profit, member organization that represents more than 2,000 service provider agencies that offer quality nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health care and other social service referrals to at-risk women, infants, and young children in over 10,000 WIC clinics nationwide.

The CIP-WIC Project Assistant will support the National WIC Association’s Center for Innovative Practices in WIC (CIP-WIC), with a primary focus on advancing the AHEAD 3.0 initiative. This role offers hands-on experience in public health innovation, health equity, and program design aimed at improving participant experience within WIC and provides a unique opportunity to contribute to national-level efforts to modernize WIC and improve access and outcomes for diverse communities. This position is grant-funded and expected to end on or before December 2026.

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Supporting the development and dissemination of AHEAD 3.0 deliverables, including the Journey Map and accompanying report;

  • Assisting with research activities such as data collection, synthesis, and literature reviews;

  • Contributing to stakeholder engagement efforts, including coordination of focus groups and outreach to WIC agencies and community partners;

  • Drafting CIP-WIC’s monthly newsletter; and

  • Providing administrative and project management support across CIP-WIC initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Associate’s degree in public health, nutrition, or a similar field, or at least 2-4 years of project management experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and interested in maternal and child health, health systems, and equity-centered program design

  • Experience in WIC is highly preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with an attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.

  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs)

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

  • Work across multiple teams to ensure project deliverables and milestones are met.
