Role Description
WHC is seeking an experienced Senior Fundraising Consultant to serve as a primary strategic advisor to nonprofit clients. This role leads fundraising strategy development, campaign planning, development assessments, and donor engagement initiatives, while managing client relationships and consulting project teams.
The ideal candidate is a strategic nonprofit fundraising leader with consulting experience, strong client management skills, and the ability to contribute to consulting service development, innovation, and firm strategy within a growing fundraising consultancy.
This is a remote, part-time role supporting nonprofit clients nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities include leading nonprofit fundraising consulting engagements, advising senior leadership and boards, and delivering customized development strategies.
Client Leadership, Fundraising Strategy, & Consulting Delivery
Lead the development and execution of comprehensive nonprofit fundraising strategies, which may include: Campaign feasibility studies and fundraising plans; Development assessments and strategic development plans; Capital and comprehensive campaign counsel; Annual Giving and Mid-Level/Mid-Major Giving growth strategies; Institutional giving strategy (foundation and corporate fundraising)
Serve as the primary project manager and client point of contact, ensuring all deliverables within the contracted scope of work are completed on time and to a high standard.
Lead and manage consulting project teams, including associates assigned to client engagements, as applicable.
Deliver high-quality fundraising consulting services, strategies, and client materials aligned with WHC standards and best practices.
Communicate clearly and persuasively with nonprofit stakeholders, including boards, senior leadership, donors, and external advisors.
Draft and oversee client-facing deliverables such as assessment instruments, feasibility study materials, presentations, reports, fundraising tools, templates, and worksheets.
Identify fundraising challenges, develop solutions, and apply innovative approaches to advance client fundraising success.
Uphold WHC’s brand and reputation by maintaining the highest standards of professional performance, ethics, and integrity.
Consulting Practice Development & Fundraising Innovation
Identify opportunities for new or enhanced fundraising consulting services and contribute to the design and pilot of innovative development strategies that strengthen WHC’s market position and impact.
Qualifications
Significant in-house nonprofit fundraising experience (7-10 years), including direct responsibility for fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and campaign execution within a nonprofit organization.
Demonstrated experience as a fundraising consultant or external advisor, with a minimum of 2 years of client-based consulting experience, providing strategic fundraising guidance to multiple nonprofit organizations. Experience must include ownership of client relationships, scopes of work, and delivery of consulting work products (e.g., consulting firm, fractional consultant, or independent practice).
Experience managing multiple client engagements concurrently, including scopes of work, deliverables, timelines, and senior-level client communication.
Strong expertise in nonprofit fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and campaign management across diverse organizational contexts.
In-depth understanding of nonprofit operations, leadership alignment, and board engagement
Demonstrated experience with a broad range of fundraising activities including annual giving, mid-major donor engagement, capital campaigns, corporate giving, and foundation giving
Direct experience successfully soliciting individual, major, corporate, and/or foundation donors for five-six figure gifts
Experience conducting development assessments, feasibility studies, and data analysis
Skilled in developing customized training workshops and coaching for nonprofit boards and staff
Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple client accounts and priorities
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail and editing
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable client recommendations
Experience using CRM systems and fundraising software platforms
This role is best suited for candidates with both hands-on in-house fundraising leadership experience and client-based consulting or external advisory experience.
Compensation and Hours:
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt W-2 position compensated based on hours worked. The position is expected to average approximately 15 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours as business needs require. Additional hours may be worked with prior approval and will be compensated in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. Total annualized compensation is $48,750, based on the expected hours. The position is eligible for employer-sponsored health insurance in accordance with plan terms. This role is also eligible for finder’s fees for new business development, subject to the terms and conditions of WHC’s written incentive policy. Actual compensation may vary based on hours worked.
