StrongSteps Behavioral Health Foundation is a nonprofit, peer-led organization dedicated to improving access to mental health support and essential services across Upstate New York. About The Role

The Fundraising & Development Coordinator will play a key role in advancing the mission of StrongSteps Behavioral Health Foundation by leading and supporting all fundraising and donor engagement efforts.

This position works closely with leadership and board members to grow sustainable funding streams and expand community partnerships. The candidate will be joining a small, mission-driven team that is passionate about improving access to mental health services across Upstate New York.

This is an opportunity to help build and shape the organization’s development strategy from the ground up while making a direct impact in the community.



What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to meet organizational revenue goals

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners

  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events such as 5Ks, community campaigns, and donor drives

  • Manage and optimize online fundraising platforms (e.g., Givebutter)

  • Research and assist in writing grant proposals and funding applications

  • Track donations, maintain donor records, and ensure timely acknowledgments

  • Create outreach materials, campaigns, and donor communications

  • Collaborate with leadership on growth strategy and funding opportunities

  • Represent the organization at community events and networking opportunities

Qualifications

  • Strong passion for nonprofit work, mental health advocacy, or community impact

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet goals

  • Experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or nonprofit development (preferred but not required)

  • Comfortable using digital tools, social media, and fundraising platforms

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
