Director of Development (Part-Time, Volunteer)
Volunteer Opportunity with Repurpose Wardrobe
Support the next generation of sustainable fashion leaders
Repurpose Wardrobe is seeking a dynamic Volunteer Director of Development to bring our network of supporters to the finish line—turning valuable relationships into critical funding and meaningful opportunities for our Fellows. The RENEW Program is a transformative job readiness and personal development experience that prepares participants for careers in fashion, marketing, and other creative industries.
You’ll spearhead efforts to close the deal with our existing network of individuals, corporate partners, and small businesses, ensuring they commit to major gifts and strategic partnerships that provide internships, job placements, and expanded career pathways for Fellows in the RENEW program.
What Volunteers Will Do:
Drive Major Gifts and Corporate Partnerships to Completion: Take lead responsibility for closing out asks with ultra-high-net-worth individual donors and our network of corporate and small business contacts, turning promising conversations into firm commitments and signed agreements.
Follow Through on Strategic Partnerships: Act as the closer for key corporate and small business relationships, ensuring that connections made by our team result in internship, job placement, and sponsorship pipelines for our Fellows.
Strengthen and Leverage Existing Relationships: Identify opportunities within our current network to secure financial support, in-kind contributions, and internship/job opportunities for students.
Ensure Follow-Up and Fulfillment: Oversee the closing process—from proposal to commitment—working closely with our executive and program teams to ensure all new relationships are fulfilled to maximize impact for our Fellows.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work with program staff to align asks with opportunities for Fellows, and maintain transparent communication to track commitments and report outcomes.
Celebrate and Steward Success: Ensure our donors and partners are recognized and engaged as our mission grows.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, sales, or business development—with a track record of closing major deals and following through to execution.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills; comfortable engaging with high-level donors and executives.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a focus on outcomes and accountability.
Passion for social impact, inclusive workforce development, and sustainable fashion is a plus.
Familiarity with donor or customer relationship management systems is helpful.
Time Commitment:
This is a volunteer position requiring approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Attendance at key networking events and meetings with donors/partners may be required.
Impact:
Your ability to close the deal will directly expand paid internships, job placements, and career-launching opportunities for our RENEW Fellows—helping us transform talent into meaningful participation in the creative economy.
